Frequently Asked Questions

Ripple

  • What is Ripple? What is the company’s mission?

Ripple is a technology company that provides the most efficient solutions to send money globally using the power of blockchain technology. Our vision is to enable the world to move value like information moves today—the Internet of Value.

Ripple is the only enterprise blockchain company today with products in commercial use. Our global payments network, RippleNet, includes over 300 financial institutions across 40 countries and six continents. We work with regulators, governments and central banks—not against them—to improve the way the world moves money.

  • What is RippleNet?

Through the use of blockchain and modern APIs, Ripple enables financial institutions who are part of the network—RippleNet—to send money globally, instantly, reliably and for fractions of a penny. Being part of RippleNet solves three key issues with payments:

    1. Speed and certainty
    2. Liquidity management
    3. Transparency

With RippleNet, customers can quickly access new markets, expand their services and deliver the best customer experience in global payments today. With a single connection, customers can access the best blockchain technology for global payments, payout capabilities in over 40 currencies, On-Demand Liquidity as an alternative to pre-funding and operational consistency through a common rulebook.

  • What is On-Demand Liquidity?

On-Demand Liquidity enables RippleNet customers to leverage the digital asset XRP to bridge two currencies in three seconds, ensuring payments are quickly sent and received in local currency on either side of the transaction. XRP is ideally suited for global payments because it is quicker, less costly and more scalable than any other digital asset.

International payments, especially in emerging markets, require businesses to hold pre-funded accounts in destination currencies. It’s a costly endeavor that ties up resources. RippleNet provides an alternative. While any financial institution on the network enjoys reliable, instant and lower-cost transactions, those who use the digital asset XRP to source liquidity can do so in seconds—freeing up capital and guaranteeing the most competitive rates available today.

  • How many customers have signed up for RippleNet? Can I join?

Over 300 financial institutions around the world rely on Ripple’s growing global payments network, RippleNet, to process their customers’ payments anywhere in the world instantly, reliably and cost-effectively. Customers include: MoneyGram, American Express, PNC, Santander, SBI Remit and BeeTech, to name a few.

If you are a financial institution interested in joining RippleNet or learning more, fill out the form here and a member of our sales team will reach out.

  • What is the difference between Ripple and XRP?

Ripple is a technology company that provides the most efficient solutions for sending money globally through a robust, global payments network, RippleNet.

XRP is a digital asset independent of Ripple, and the XRP Ledger is the open-source technology behind it. The XRP Ledger was created independently from Ripple and thus, Ripple does not control or own it. For more information on XRP, please refer to: https://xrpl.org/

  • Why have I not received a response about joining RippleNet?

Thank you for reaching out and for your interest in Ripple. We are currently engaged with a number of partners who are looking to integrate our product with theirs and to deploy within their client base of banks as a means to develop and strengthen the business case for using Ripple. Given our limited bandwidth and resources as a startup and our high priority to drive new business through RippleNet, we are currently only exploring conversations with partners who have relationships with financial institutions that are interested in using Ripple for payments in the immediate to intermediate term, and have had to table other conversations, for the time being.

Once we have established a groundwork amongst financial institutions, we plan to reopen exploratory and research conversations with partners that align well with our immediate and long term RippleNet growth initiatives.

  • How do I get a job at Ripple?

Ripple is hiring the best and brightest to fill key positions throughout our organization. Please see our Careers page to see job opportunities. If there is not an applicable role for you, please check back in the future—we are not hiring for roles that are not listed on the site.

  • Does the price volatility of XRP affect institutions adopting On-Demand Liquidity (ODL)?

No. Ripple has a stable cache of financial institutions that are interested in piloting On-Demand Liquidity (ODL). Financial institutions who use ODL don’t need to hold XRP for an extended period of time. What’s more, XRP settles in three to five seconds, which means financial institutions are exposed to limited volatility during the course of the transaction.

  • How do I buy Ripple stock?

Ripple is not a publicly traded company.
